Kate Gosselin Talks Possible Divorce

Getting in some errand running on the Memorial Day holiday, Kate Gosselin was spotted hitting up Petsmart and Starbucks in Reading, Pennsylvania yesterday (May 25).

And in a recent interview, the “Jon & Kate Plus 8” mommy told press that she’s not sure whether or not she and Jon will make it through another year of marriage.

Gosselin revealed, “I don’t know...parents of multiples have, like, triple the divorce rate, and I was thinking we were gonna beat that. I don’t know if I can say that anymore. Very swiftly, we turned into two different people, and that’s just hard. I’ve tried for six months to figure out what the problem is, or remedy the problem. It’s so complicated.”

Jon added, “I think it was good for them [the kids] to see their mom and dad together in one place, even though it’s been tough right now. Like I said, we will come together for our kids regardless of our relationship. We have to make a plan and settle jointly what we’re going to do. There are good times and bad times and nothing is perfect.”

And while she’s willing to accept her share of the blame, Kate says she can’t help but feel like Jon has been slacking.  “Slowly, I’ve seen him almost resent the duties [of being a parent].  I know it’s a lot to take care of eight kids. I’m traveling a lot, he’s frustrated a lot. I think he’s angry at me. He doesn’t really feel great about me.  Have I been hard on him for almost the last 10 years that we’ve been married? I would never deny that. I’ve always regretted it. Have I pushed him to this? I don’t feel like I have. I feel like everyone is responsible for their own actions.”

Paris Hilton Denies Bathroom Sex, Being Kicked Off Boat

Paris Hilton is denying report that she and Doug Reinhardt were tossed off a yacht owned by Elton John's beau David Furnish for hooking up in the bathroom.

Tabolids claimed the ho-tel heiress was booted after she and Doug were caught in a "compromising position" on the boat following the Cannes Film Festival.

But on her official MySpace page, Paris Hilton blogged that the report "is such a lie that it's a joke! ... I would never do that," insists the ho-cialite.

Note that she said she would never, rather than she did not. Telltale sign of a lie right there. Also, one's credibility is kind of shot when one engages in what can almost be described as a public sex tape with one's man the previous day.

Paris, Doug Photo

"It's so lame that people will just create these crazy stories," pleaded Paris.

"I can't believe the stories people will make up, so gross! I'm so sick of these false rumors. It's not fair that writers can get away it. They have no credibility."

As opposed to ... forget it.

Boat-banishments, angry neighbors and disgusting PDAs aside, Paris Hilton and Doug Reinhardt seem very much in love - more and more each day.

"They are very much in love and happy," a source close to them said.

Ah, young romance. Just get married, sell the pictures to OK! Magazine and release the kinky wedding night sex tape, kids. You know you want too.

Kyle Minogue: Engaged to Andres Velencoso!

Pop star Kylie Minogue and Andres Velencoso, her Spanish model boyfriend, are reportedly shopping for a home and about to announce their engagement.

The pair have been dating since meeting in Paris last year, The Courier-Mail newspaper reports. Minogue and Andres Velencoso have been looking at property in the fishing village of Tossa Del Mar, a few miles north of Barcelona.

Tossa Del Mar is where the 31-year-old model was born and his father and sisters continue to live in the area. Velencoso's mom died seven years ago.

"I'm happier with him than I have ever been before, you never know, he could be the one," Kyle Minogue reportedly confided at the Cannes Film Festival. "He is great, who knows what the future holds but hopefully things will work out."

Kylie Minogue confirmed she is learning Spanish "because it would make things easier" between them, and has taken up golf, one of his passions.

Those close to the Aussie pop singer said that the 40-year-old is completely smitten and unlike with past love, Olivier Martinez, feels wanted.

"She feels loved, adored and wanted," a friend said, adding that her parents have already approved the dart-loving, soccer-mad Spaniard.

Meanwhile, it appears it be a double announcement for the Minogue family, as there are separate rumors floating around surrounding her sister, Dannii Minogue, who supposedly was proposed to by former rugby player / model Kris Smith.

Rihanna and Chris Brown: Post-Coital, Pre-Beating Pics

It seems hard to believe now, but there was a time when Rihanna lay next to boyfriend Chris Brown with a look of satisfaction - as opposed to terror - on her face.

There was a time when the term "banging" between this couple was a synonym for love-making, not face-pummeling.

There was even a time when Chris Brown made Rihanna laugh, not bleed out of numerous orifices as the result of a beating so brutal it made professional boxers wince.

Those days are long gone, of course. But the following photos serve as a reminder of happier times between this pair.

While not as intimate as the recently-discovered Rihanna nude pics, we've uncovered a few shots of the singers from the days of yore. Where did it all go wrong?

Rihanna and Chris Brown Photo

Post-CoitalClassic Couple Pic

From the bedroom to the courtroom: Rihanna will testify as a witness for the prosecution in a preliminary hearing on felony charges against Brown for his alleged assault on her.

So, where did these photos come from? It's unclear. But we know this:

Chris Brown has an album coming out, Chris Brown says he is not a monster and now these pics have surfaced that are meant to show Chris Brown's soft side.

Seems like someone is doing his publication relations homework to us. What a violent phony.

Coming Soon: An Amy Winehouse Fashion Line

She may have cancelled her doomed-from-the-get-go long-awaited UK comeback gig, but that hasn't stopped Amy Winehouse embarking on a new endeavor:

Her own clothing line.

The troubled star, who is currently residing (note that the media finally stopped calling it a vacation) in St. Lucia, has been announced as the latest celebrity to lend their signature style to London-based fashion label, PPQ.

No word on whether PPQ plans on naming the new line "Heroin Chic" or whether each purchase will come with a voucher for a free bottle of malt liquor.

All we know is that somewhere, Blake Fielder-Civil is plotting how to get his hands on 50 percent of the royalties. Or where to get his next fix.

Back!!!! Back!!!

This is pretty much our reaction to most Amy Winehouse news.

While Wino may seem an unlikely fashion muse, PPQ is no stranger to London party girls - having paired up with Peaches Geldof in its first celebrity collaboration.

Launching later this year, Winehouse will design a capsule collection for Amy Molyneaux and Percy Parker's fashion line, set to be a homage to the starlet's look.

Her look? What would that be, exactly? Tattered denim shorts, cleavage-baring dresses? Open-toed shoes that provide easy access to the veins between your toes?

Sounds about right.

Sounds like a can't-miss proposition ... provided it doesn't require Amy to physically show up anywhere to promote it. Odds of her being conscious are iffy at best.

O.J. Simpson Plays Race Card (Again), Appeals Conviction

Sigh. O.J. Simpson still thinks he's innocent.

The double murderer-slash-armed robber who told his co-conspirators to "get some heat" before pulling a gun on some schmoe is playing the only card he has left - that of the race variety - in the hopes of being sprung from a Nevada state prison.

Simpson filed an appeal on Tuesday with the Nevada Supreme Court over the hotel room confrontation where he and his roving gang of miscreant thugs punked two sports memorabilia dealers - finally landing the Juice in jail where he belongs.

The miserable excuse for a human being is actually claiming his conviction was tainted by judicial misconduct - namely a lack of racial diversity on the jury.

O.J. Mugshot

THE WORST: O.J., shockingly, is a regular in our celebrity mug shots gallery.

Orenthal the knife-wielding maniac also suggests in his appeal that there were errors in both his sentencing and the instructions given to the jury.

There is no indication the court will hear the appeal or when they could make a ruling. Our best guess is approximately three days from never.

O.J. Simpson is set to serve 9-33 years in the slammer.

No word if he's still trying to hunt down the "real killer" of his ex-wife and her friend while killing (sorry) all that time behind bars. If he every needs any help with that enduring mission, he can always call up Hulk Hogan.

Lady GaGa Talks Bisexuality

Although it was originally a “very personal” part of her life, Lady Gaga is opening up about her sexuality in the new issue of Rolling Stone – shedding light on her bisexuality.

The singer also spoke about her boyfriend’s reaction in learning the news that his girlfriend is also interested in women.

“The fact that I’m into women, they’re all intimidated by it,” she explains. “It makes them uncomfortable. They’re like, ‘I don’t need to have a threesome. I’m happy with just you.’”

But Gaga says that she has never truly been in love with a woman and that the attraction is based off of totally physical aspects. The former Stefani Joanne Germanotta met her one and only four years
ago.

“I was his Sandy, and he was my Danny, and I just broke,” the 23-year-old says of her breakup with a heavy-metal drummer named Luke, who inspired nearly all of the songs on her debut album, The Fame.

Meanwhile, the songstress has a new boy toy, but still puts her feelings into her music instead.

“My music’s not going to wake up tomorrow morning and tell me it doesn’t love me anymore,” she says. “So I’m content with my solitude. I’m okay with being alone. I choose to have someone in my life when I can.”

Where does she get her inspiration from? Not from where you may have guessed. Gaga is “inspired by skyscrapers, architecture” and things that will keep fans interested.

“I don’t feel like I look like the other perfect little pop singers,” she says. “I think I’m changing what people think is sexy. I feel like I have so much to do… My true legacy will be the test of time, and whether I can sustain a space in pop culture and really make stuff that will have a genuine impact.”

'Twilight' Big Focus Of Movie Awards, Producer Mark Burnett Says

'People love the movie, love the books. I've seen nothing like it,' he says of the Twilighter phenomenon.

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Television super-producer Mark Burnett is responsible for more than a thousand broadcast hours on primetime TV and has given us shows like "Survivor" and "The Apprentice." These days, he's putting the finishing touches on this year's MTV Movie Awards — and has learned to trust in things like "Twilight," Eminem and his hardworking production crew.

"I have a really good team. My philosophy on shows is: I want to hire people under me who are better than me," Burnett explained. "There's nothing more annoying than to be working on a project and the person in charge is always second-guessing you, micromanaging you."

"The way I look at things is this: Imagine you bought a guard dog, and every time the doorbell rang, you barked yourself," he laughed. "It would piss off the dog."

This year, his crew have marching orders that only the MTV Movie Awards would permit: Keep it loose, keep it crazy.

"The great thing about the MTV Movie Awards is that MTV is edgy, a little nutty, and allows the crazy sh-- to happen," Burnett explained. "And that's a beautiful thing."

Among this year's crazy elements are the unpredictable Eminem — who Burnett insisted he has no plans to censor. "I really don't. I've never met him, I look forward to it. I'm a street guy from East London, he's a street guy," he reasoned. "He just wants to do his thing, so we should give him the canvas to do his thing. We're just blessed to have him here — we're very grateful. I'm a huge Eminem fan, huge. To have him come back and do this in a big venue is exciting. And whatever happens, is gonna happen."

Another element Burnett singled out this year as a main focus is the ascension of "Twilight" — and the exclusive trailer the stars will be bringing to the show with them.

"They're really, really important. Last year, so much of the media was like, 'Who the hell are these people? What is this thing?' Now, it's the biggest thing for the media," he grinned. "We are so lucky that Summit allowed us to show this clip."

Although Burnett remembers the "Twilight" buzz from last year's ceremony, it wasn't until recently that a family member reminded him of how huge Sunday's exclusive clip is going to be. "Here's how I judge things: I have three kids, a 12-year-old boy, a 13-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy. At the dinner table, when it first was raised privately in my family that this ["New Moon" trailer] might happen, my daughter levitated off the dinner table," he recalled. "When she was finally able to talk about it, her entire school was buzzing. Every young girl in America is tuned in to see this."

"People love the movie, love the books. I've seen nothing like it," he said, explaining that he is also a fan. "Even when the poster was revealed it created news. I love when new things come out in America, things that touch people in a positive way. There's so much negative news ... this is positive. "Twilight" is love. It's a forbidden love story. I love the movie, I've seen it a number of times. It's great for us."

All in all, such mismatched elements as Eminem and "Twilight" are what makes the MTV Movie Awards what they are. And Mark Burnett wouldn't have things any other way.

"It's the warts and all — you set up situations that could combust," he grinned. "And then you let it go, man."

Will the vampires grab more trophies than the slumdog? What was the year's ultimate onscreen WTF moment? It's up to you to decide the winners of the 2009 MTV Movie Awards. Vote now, and tune in on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET, when the big show airs live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.

The 4-year-old daughter of former heavyweight boxing champ Mike Tyson was critically injured on Monday in what police said was a tragic accident at home. According to Fox News, Exodus Tyson was found by her 7-year-old brother hanging from the cord of a treadmill. At press time, she was reported to be in "extremely" critical condition and on life support at St. Joseph's Hospital.

The toddler was reportedly playing near the exercise equipment in the family's Phoenix home while her mother was elsewhere in the house cleaning on Monday morning. When her mother sent the boy to look for Exodus, he found her tangled in the cord. He alerted the mother, who immediately called 911 and began performing CPR.

"Somehow the little girl got something caught across her throat, she became unresponsive, the boy went and got the mother, and the mother came out and found the child," Phoenix Police Sgt. Andy Hill told the Phoenix Fox affiliate.

Tyson, who has been promoting a documentary about his life for the past month, "Tyson," was in Las Vegas at the time of the accident and reportedly flew home immediately upon receiving word of it.

Police are calling the mishap a "tragic accident." A police spokesperson told Fox News that there was "nothing in the investigation that revealed anything suspicious."

Chace Crawford Pumped Up to Get Footloose

Chace Crawford is supposedly dating Esti Ginzburg. That is exciting.

In less stimulating news that also involves him contorting his body, he begins shooting the upcoming remake of the 1984 classic Footloose next March.

The 23-year-old Gossip Girl star landed the Footloose role after Zac Efron dropped out: "I know Zac and we're actually friends," Crawford tells EW.com.

"He's gotta make the best choice for his career at this point and I have to make the best for mine, and luckily the situation worked out for both of us."

Chace won the part after an audition, including dancing and singing, for the movie's producers and High School Musical director Kenny Ortega.

“It was, like, five hours of the most rigorous tests ever,” says the Texas native.

Chace Crawford Shirtless Photo

Dancing With the StarsJulianne Hough will audition this week for the female lead role alongside Crawford. Some think her recent success as a country music star, in addition to her dancing prowess, could give her an edge.

Regardless of what gorgeous female stars opposite the Gossip Girl hunk, you can bet that Footloose will pay homage to the '80s film in many respects.

Also expect to hear familiar tunes, but maybe not see the same choreography: “I don’t know if the gymnastics scene is going to make it,” says Crawford. “I’ve got some movement, but I’m not exactly a dancer. I need to start stretching now.”

Sources Spill on Private Lives of Oksana Grigorieva, Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson is an actor that has pretended to stand by the strict guidelines of Catholicism, only to have been arrested for drunk driving, accused of hatred against Jews, sued for divorce and publicly shamed by knocking up his mistress, Oksana Grigorieva. All in the last two years.

This much we know.

But what else can we say about Gibson and Grigorieva? People asked a few insiders to provide details on the private life of this couple.

"[Oksana] spent the last nine months locked up in a studio," says her mother, Lyudmila Chernukha, who focused on her daughter's collection of new songs, all of which Oksana wrote, arranged and sang herself.

While his girlfriend churns out hopeful hits, Gibson works on movie projects at his Santa Monica office.

Mel and Oksana Photo

Keep smiling, Mel. That should absolve you from all your sins.

After work time is over, the pair hangs out with Grigorieva's son Alexander, 11.  This quasi family sometimes frequents a Russian restaurant in the area.

"It [seems] very important to Oksana that Mel and her son bond," says a source. "Mel is fun to be around and great with kids."

Mel and Oksana rarely have sleepovers, insiders say. They retire to their separate homes so Grigorieva can get her child off to a local school in the mornings.

As for the impending bundle of joy?

"Oksana is a good mother and she'll make a great mother to Mel's child," says a friend. "She's found the greatest thing in life, someone to take care of her and a father to her children."

What The Hills?!? Holly Montag Joins Team Kristin

Excuse Lauren Conrad if she can't stand up straight these days. The newly retired reality star is still pulling that knife out of her back.

In an interview with E! News, Holly Montag showed serious love for new co-star Kristin Cavallari.

"I think Kristin's openness is going to be far more entertaining than anything Lauren had to offer," Holly said. "Lauren's always been very conservative, which is good for her values, but Kristin just wants to put everything on the line because she thinks reality is real. Kristin doesn't hide anything. She's seriously the most real girl you'll meet in reality television."

Isn't that like being the tallest person at a midget convention?

Holly Montag PicThe Fabulous Lauren Conrad

Holly Montag admires Kristin Cavallari for being "real." We admire Montag if she was able to keep a straight face while making that statement.

Despite implying that LC is fake, Holly wishes nothing but the best for her pal:

"I'm happy she's done with this. Now, that she's out if it, I have no doubt she'll be a successful designer. She's so talented and driven."

Meanwhile, Stacie Hall - the bartender that's dating Frankie Delgado - has already partied with Kristin.

"Kristin's a really fun, outgoing person, and I think we're going to have a great time continuing to film," Stacie said. "Lauren is a good, good girl, but Kristin is more outgoing and crazy."

Jon & Kate Plus High Ratings, Allowance Rumors, More Tabloid Talk

This is all your fault, people.

We really don't wanna keep writing about Jon Gosselin and Kate Gosselin, as these below-average parents seem more interested in attention than their children these days.

But there's clearly interest in this couple, as 9.8 million people tuned in for Monday night's fifth season premiere; that's twice as many viewers as the show's previous high, and more than the number that watched this year's Lost finale. Sheesh!

Tabloid Fodder

So, what's the latest on Kate, who complained on the episode that her life was "just so hard," due to the media and pressure on her marriage.

(To which The Baltimore Sun's David Zurawik aptly replied: "Is it really, Kate? Tell that to a family in which the breadwinner has just lost her or his job, you silly, self-absorbed fool.")

According to David Rothermel, Jon's former employer at Style Craft Corp, his wife had him on an allowance; a miniscule one, at that.

"She used to give him only $5 to spend, and if he was out and needed more money, she would give him hell," Rothermel told Us Weekly.

Rothermel - the latest in a long line of friends and relatives to either sell out the Gosselins or go along with their publicity-seeking strategy - also recounted a story in which Kate stormed into the office because Jon's father failed to bring her lunch; while also detailing Kate's lack of gratitude over the donation of a van for the family.

Isn't this fascinating stuff?!?

We beseech you, readers: stop watching this show. For the sake of Jon and Kate's children - as well as our sanity - it's best if this family is kept off TV for awhile.

Jay Leno's Final (But Not Really) Show: Highlights

The final episode of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno aired last night on NBC. Leno's returning to NBC, so it wasn't so emotional, but not on this stage, which is why to some people - maybe - this might've been important.

Most notable was the clip of a jittery Conan O'Brien - who was Leno's final guest on the show - coming out on NBC for the first time in 1993, when they announced that O'Brien would have his own show. Watch as Jay Leno screws with "the kid" way back in the day.

The rest of the interview was Conan discussing the strageness of being hunted by TMZ cameras, and Jay being encouraging and supportive of his efforts. Which is boring! Why didn'! t they roast each other? It probably would've been more fun, a! nd they' ve had all this time to glad hand each other in the press. It was nice, however, and Leno's never really been known for his bombast. But his bad one-liners, we'll always carry with us. Like this one, for the road:

Finally, Leno took to the children, for sentimental effect: after naming a few staffers who've hooked up over the years from jobs on The Tonight Show, Leno's grand finale was busting out the kids of all the st! affers who've been born over the course of Leno's tenure on the show. It was sweet, cute, and kind of inspired. Credit where credit's due: to not be a grandstanding, pompous asshole after years of being a proficient late-night host, might be an accomplishment in it of itself. Or maybe Johnny Carson just set the precedent.

Also worth noting: Billy Crystal (with help from Hairspray remake director Marc Shaiman)! doing a hammy musical tribute to Leno Thursday night.

My favorite Tonight Show moment - tough between the "Hugh Grant/prostitute" saga, but Michael Jackson jokes (so old school!) win out: Leno can't tell any because he's a witness in the 2005 Michael Jackson trials, so he brings out a bunch of other comedians to do it for him. Later, a judge cleared him to tell the jokes. Anybody else? You find 'em, throw 'em in the comments, please.

MTV Movie Awards' Hottest Red Carpet Looks

Robert Pattinson, Lauren Conrad and other stars make up our five favorite fashion moments from recent Movie Awards.

The MTV Movie Awards are the perfect place for celebrities to let loose and show off their fun, flirty and hip sense of fashion. Gone are the gowns and stuffy attire reserved for shows like the Oscars and the Golden Globes. In are the miniskirts and relaxed suits that best emphasize the chilled-out, party atmosphere of every MTV occasion.

We can't wait to see what our guests are going to wear at the show this Sunday night, but in the meantime, here are five of the best looks worn on the carpet in the last two years.

Megan Fox
In 2008, the "Transformers" star didn't need any jewels for her outfit. Instead, she rocked the carpet with rhinestone encrusted straps on her white mini-dress, paired with her long straight hair and modernized bombshell makeup.

Zac Efron
Forgoing the casual look, in 2007 Efron opted for a slim-fitting gray suit and skinny gray satin tie, a retro fashion befitting the star of "Hairspray." Efron proved that guys don't need to be messy to embody the fun, carefree feeling of the Movie Awards.

Lauren Conrad
In 2008, wearing a slinky, knee-length, one-shouldered blue dress, LC embraced her "Laguna Beach" roots by keep her hair in loose, beachy waves and accessorizing with two simple gold necklaces.

Robert Pattinson
With his now-infamous devil-may-care hair in place, the "Twilight" heartthrob greeted the screaming fans on the 2008 red carpet in a gray, sharkskin blazer, slightly unbuttoned black shirt and black jeans. The look showed everyone that RPattz is one of the hottest young guys in Hollywood.

Cameron Diaz
The little black dress never fails, and Cameron's funky, polka-dotted take on the idea was adorable in 2007. Plus, the very short length of it was perfect for Cameron's super-long legs. Her relaxed hair and makeup kept the style light, airy and fun.

Will the vampires grab more trophies than the slumdog? What was the year's ultimate onscreen WTF moment? It's up to you to decide the winners of the 2009 MTV Movie Awards. Susan Boyle Loses 'Britain's Got Talent,' But Soars With Final Performance

Singer returns to 'I Dreamed a Dream,' but comes in second to dance troupe Diversity.
By Jem Aswad

Susan Boyle
Photo: ITV

The world was fixated on the final "Britain's Got Talent" Saturday (May 30), mainly to see how the unlikely overnight sensation Susan Boyle, who has been battered by the media in the wake of last week's shaky performance on the show would fare. She did not disappoint her fans, who judging by the amount of traffic clogging the show's Web site, were flocking to their computers to see her performance -- but ultimately came in second, losing out to dance troupe Diversity. The 10-member British troupe will receive 100,000 pounds ($160,000) and will perform at the Royal Variety Performance before the Queen.

After singing performances from contestants Shaheen Jafargholi (who was told by judge Simon Cowell, "You have a great chance of winning this whole thing"), 2 Grand, Hollie Steel and Shaun Smith, Boyle returned to the stage with the song that made her famous, "I Dreamed a Dream" from "Les Misérables," soaring through the song with a rendition that had the crowd standing on its feet before she was halfway done.

After the performance, the show's hosts acknowledged the ressure Boyle has been underp this week, to which she said: "I want to thank the people for all the support they've given me, especially the people at home and people in the audience. Thank you all very much."

Asked if it was worth it, she replied, "Well worth it! Well worth it! To hell with everything!" Asked if she feels at home onstage, she said, "I really feel at home onstage, of course I do, I'm among friends am I not?" she asked, looking straight into the crowd.

Judge Piers Morgan, who commented extensively on Boyle's hardships last week, even citing negative headlines before saying, "I thought, all you have to do to answer all your critics... is sing the song we all fell in love with, sing it better than you did last time, and Susan, I'm not supposed to favor anyone in this competition as a judge, but forget it, that was the greatest performance I've seen in 'Britain's Got Talent' history, you should win this competition, I loved it!" Boyle grimaced slightly and put her hand over her face.

Judge Amanda Holden seconded his praise, adding that "Simon [Cowell] had a tear in his eye, and I've never seen that before."

For his part, Cowell referred to her "weird seven weeks" and said, "You had every right to walk away from this ... and a lot of people said you shouldn't even be in this competition, that you're not equipped to deal with it. For what? For you to sit at home with your cat and say 'I've missed an opportunity?' I completely disagree with that. Win or lose, you had the guts to come back here tonight and face your critics, and you beat them. And that's the most important thing. Whatever happens, and I've got to know the real Susan Boyle, who is not the person I've seen portrayed in the media, you can walk away from this, win or lose, with your head held high. I absolutely adore you."

When Diversity were announced as winners, Boyle put on a brave face, saying "The best people won," and she wished them "all the best."

Miley Cyrus? 'Mamma Mia's' Amanda Seyfried? Who Will Win Female Breakthrough Performance?

Find out Sunday when the MTV Movie Awards air live at 9 p.m. ET.
By Larry Carroll

Miley Cyrus in "Hannah Montana: The Movie"

Mamma mia, here we go again. My my, it's been quite a year at the movies, one that has introduced us to an impressive bunch of newcomers. Once again, the MTV Movie Awards are eager to recognize the breakthroughs — and the Female Breakthrough Performance category has several fresh-faced actresses angling to be crowned as the Meryl Streep of tomorrow.

Do Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale have careers beyond the "High School Musical" films? Is Miley Cyrus the singing/acting double threat that she appears to be? Are Kat Dennings and Freida Pinto destined for long careers, and will "Mamma Mia!" star Amanda Seyfried launch a legacy as durable as her Abba collaborators?

These questions and more will be answered Sunday night, as fans continue to feverishly vote for Breakthrough Performance Female. Now it's time to handicap the favorites in the category — but, mamma mia, how can we resist any of them?

Who's the Favorite?

At the age of 16, Destiny Hope "Miley" Cyrus has already released two albums that both debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart; she's ranked on Time magazine's "Most Influential People in the World" and Forbes' "Celebrity 100" lists; and she's starred in two live-action and one animated film, all of which have been hugely successful. Would youbet against her? "Hannah Montana: The Movie" was engineered as the perfect starring vehicle for Miley, and her fans loved every minute of it. As A-list as her career already is, it seems like "The Climb" is only just beginning.

Who's the Underdog?

Miley has already reached out to her huge fanbase via Twitter and urged them to keep voting throughout the weekend. But should she stumble, look for Amanda Seyfried to sneak in with an all-singing, all-dancing acceptance speech. "Mamma Mia" was the year's ultimate guilty pleasure and is now the highest-grossing film ever in the United Kingdom (suck on that, "Titanic"!). And don't forget, folks: Our British friends can vote for Sunday's show, too. Blimey!

Inside Scoop

» "High School Musical 3" stars Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale will be squaring off against each other in this category. "HSM3" was originally scheduled to be called "Haunted High School Musical" and featured a plot that had Troy and the others battling ghosts and ghouls. Mercifully, the haunted-house angle was abandoned in mid-2007, as producers chose to instead focus on the perils and pleasures of senior year at East High School.

» Kat Dennings, nominated for "Nick And Norah's Infinite Playlist," portrayed Bob Saget's daughter on the short-lived sitcom "Raising Dad" and was born on the exact same day and year as Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. Sadly, she appears to have no connection to Dave Coulier.

Trend Trip: New York - Kmart Design Team Article

“In the last stage of their trend seeking voyage, the Kmart design team arrives in New York at the SoHo design center. The world-famous fashion capital offers many trend-inspiring ideas and it is up to the team to make out which ones are the most feasible and which ones will make the cut.

Theresa, the Chief Design Officer, is always writing things down, seeing how current events will reflect in fashion. Meanwhile, Rick, the Trend Director, offers his ageless advice. For him, to begin a trend watch, the team must begin with “very high level concepts” which will later determine apparel and home trends.

Rick also reveals that in the past, home and apparel trends “were fairly far apart” but are now closer than ever. Therefore, looking at apparel trends can help the team identify trends for home décor, as the trends influence each other.

Once in SoHo, the Kmart Home and Apparel teams meet. Their brainstorming session will plant seeds for spring fashions 2010. Kmart design trends for home décor and clothes are being determined behind closed doors as the Chicago and NY teams exchange notes on the intersection of home and apparel trends and the challenge behind delivering affordable, quality design.

Chris Brown to the Internet: 'I'm Not a Monster'

Rihanna-beating Chris Brown is promoting a new album (who isn't these days, amirite?) so he took the time to make a little YouTube video proclaiming the record's crazy dopeness, and also to thank the real fans and not the haters who think he's a monster. Which he is.

Andy Samberg Has A History With The MTV Movie Awards

Being a writer for the 2005 show helped him land his 'Saturday Night Live' gig, in 'MTV Movie Awards Confidential.'

As Andy Samberg gets set to host the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, viewers might be thinking this will mark the "Saturday Night Live" comedian's first appearance on the show. But not only does Samberg have a long history with the Movie Awards, the show actually helped launch his career.

It all started with the 2005 Movie Awards, when Jimmy Fallon was hosting and Samberg was a writer. Fallon thought Samberg was hilarious and introduced him to "SNL" creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels. Michaels gave Samberg an audition, and he ended up joining the cast as a featured player in the fall of '05. A couple of months later, Samberg made a name for himself with the digital short "Lazy Sunday."

Samberg returned to the Movie Awards in 2007 to present an award and stage an elaborate bit on the live broadcast. Sarah Silverman was hosting that year, and her opening monologue stretched nearly twice as long as planned. Then "Talladega Nights" stars Will Ferrell and Sacha Baron Cohen accepted their award for Best Kiss and re-created their passionate embrace to the point where they were rolling around on the floor. By this point, the show was running so long that something had to be cut. That something was Samberg.

Things changed when Silverman heard about the planned omission. "Comedians stick together, and when Sarah found out we had to lose that moment in the show, she of course decided she was going to bring him into one of her segments," said Salli Frattini, an executive producer of the show.

Silverman ended up introducing Samberg to the crowd and informed everyone that his segment had been cut. Samberg explained that his bit was going to involve Kevin James smacking him in the head. "It was going to be so funny!" Samberg promised.

Not missing a beat, Silverman walloped Samberg in the head, knocking him to the ground. "That is funny!" she said.

So how does Samberg feel now that he's gone from getting a bit cut to hosting the entire show? He sees the makings of a precedent. "In general, if someone has a bit cut off the show, they should be allowed to host after that."

Amy Poehler Takes On Jim Carrey: Who Will Win Best Comedic Performance?

Anna Faris, Steve Carell and James Franco all want the last laugh at the MTV Movie Awards, Sunday at 9 p.m. ET.

MTV Movie Awards categories come and go. We once gave out a Golden Popcorn statue for Best Sandwich. But one category that's been around since the beginning and deserves to stay forever is Best Comedic Performance. After all the Best Kisses have been bestowed and the Best Fights have been waged, it's the folks who made us laugh the hardest that might be remembered longest.

From pregnant baby mamas to clueless sorority house mothers, from stoned-out pot dealers to high-strung yes men to hapless secret agents, the 2009 Movie Awards offer quite a collection of side-splitting, guffaw-inducing nominees. Since this is one of the only categories to have neither "Twilight" nor "Slumdog Millionaire" clogging up its ranks, it's tempting to say this is an open field in which any of our jokesters might prevail, or that it'd be cruel to choose among this merriment, so everyone should win. But who are we kidding? The Movie Awards are made for winners, and when we've laughed our last laugh, it's time to pick our favorites from all these wisecracking entertainers.

Who's the Favorite? Aficionados of Movie Awards history should know never to bet against Jim Carrey. He's the all-time Golden Popcorn champ, having taken home 10 wins for appearances in films like "Dumb and Dumber," "Liar Liar" and "The Truman Show." And he has won in the Best Comedic Performance category no fewer than four times. The guy's a legend, and his appearances at the show are notoriously colorful. And his role as Negative-Nelly-turned-brazen-optimist Carl in "Yes Man" is no exception. When you check out a clip of Red Bull-wired Carl returning from a couple of raves to flirt a mile-a-minute with Zooey Deschanel's character, you can't help but think voters will once again be saying "yes" to this man.

Who's the Underdog? Amy Poehler has been having a pretty good run lately. Her appearances as Hillary Clinton on "Saturday Night Live" during the presidential campaign were instant classics, and the debut of her own NBC comedy, "Parks and Recreation," announced to the world that Poehler had arrived. A win for her turn as an infantile surrogate mother opposite pal Tina Fey in "Baby Mama" seems like a richly deserved honor for a career on the rise. From peeing in a sink because she can't figure out the toilet's child safety lock (which is also nominated for Best WTF Moment) to throwing a hilarious fit over swallowing an oversize vitamin, Poehler's scenes in "Mama" were fertile territory for laughs and, perhaps, for awards.

Inside Scoop » "Get Smart" nominee Steve Carell has won in this category before for "The 40-Year Old Virgin." Carell's "Get Smart" love interest is Anne Hathaway, who is 20 years his junior. The age discrepancy is explained away by saying Hathaway's character had undergone radical reconstructive plastic surgery to assume a new identity.

» The working title of Anna Faris' "The House Bunny" was actually "I Know What Boys Like." While the title eventually changed, co-star and "American Idol" runner-up Katharine McPhee had already recorded a cover of the Waitresses' "I Know What Boys Like" for the film.

» During last year's Movie Awards, "Pineapple Express" nominee James Franco, along with co-star Seth Rogen, pulled out a possibly fake bag of weed during the live broadcast and proceeded to light a joint. The camera cut away, but the moment remains one of the most memorable in the show's history.

Vote now, and tune in on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET, when the big show airs live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.

Candy Spelling Blames Husband's Death on Daughter

Wow. This is enough to make the Linda and Brooke Hogan seem like a close-knit mother and daughter.

Appearing on a Massachusetts radio station, 94.7 WMAS, yesterday to shill for her new book, "Stories From Candyland," Candy Spelling didn't merely bad mouth her daughter; she pretty much blamed the 90210 star for the 2006 death of her father. SERIOUSLY.

"My daughter one day decided that she wasn't speaking to my husband, myself and my son, and that's how it's continued for the last, oh gosh, four or five years," Candy said. "And it was sad, that's what killed my husband, actually. He just didn't want to live after that. He [had] just done everything he could possibly do for his daughter, and she wanted no part of him once he couldn't do anything for her."

Yes, referring to her own daughter's actions, Candy actually said: that's what killed my husband.

Candy SpellingVery Big Breasted

Candy Spelling has set the bar of awful mothering extraordinarily high. Good luck reaching it, Dina Lohan and Denise Richards!

In an attempt to garner more publicity for her joke of a memoir clarify her statement, Candy wrote the following for The Huffington Post:

"I didn't intend to create headlines. I was asked a question about my daughter not speaking with my family, and I answered truthfully. My husband was very ill, and he had stopped eating and taking liquids. He called Tori on a daily basis, and never stopped asking if Tori had returned his call. We had to say no every day."

We can only think of one response to these galling statements:

Anyone that purchases Candy Spelling's book should be stoned on the spot.

Contemporary Design from London - Kmart Design Article

“Head off to England with the Kmart design team and get a glimpse into the “"art & science"” of design as the team considers how color, textures and fabric all come together. Professional shopper and Kmart Trend Director, Rick, takes us on a tour of London where inspiration and the direction of the upcoming trends are found. Rick has a unique eye and is really appreciative of the design process. He looks at products spatially, mentally recording the way they will look in relation with other pieces. He is making sure of its appeal and taking note of “physically, what it will look like in the store.”

Theresa, the Chief Design Officer, and Rick take us off the beaten touristy path to more localized establishments of London. There, with a list in hand, they visit shops and galleries evaluating the art of fashion in a scientific way. Theresa objects to the teasing she gets about having the easiest job when “its really not so easy, because if you don’t get the science right, before the art, you can really screw things up.”

So, while sticking to basic design standards, the Kmart team continues to go valiantly where no design team has gone before, taking that information and translating it into a product that is adaptable to the Kmart customer.

Zac Efron Supporting the Lakers at Game 5

Yes ladies and gentlemen, we have a Zac Efron spotting.

The teen sensation made it out to watch the L.A. Lakers take Game 5 against the Denver Nuggets. It was tied at the end of the first three quarters when the Lakers pulled out a 103-94 victory.

Zac Got Worried

Efron grew up in California and has been a lifelong Lakers fan, making the victory that much sweeter. Hopefully the Lakers can come through and bring the big win to Cali.

The only disappointing part of the night was that Efron didn’t bring long-time girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens with him to this game like he usually does.

He’s come a long way from High School Musicals, but we applaud him for not turning into a douche. Well done Zac

Zac got pretty into the game. You can tell how the Lakers are doing just by watching his face...

Pretty Ricky's Spectacular Says Suggestive Video Was 'For The Ladies'

R&B artist says 'Strip With Spectacular' clip is the first in a series of videos he plans to post online.
By Jayson Rodriguez

Pretty Ricky member Spectacular set off a frenzy online earlier this week when the singer posted a video online of himself gyrating suggestively wearing nothing but skimpy red briefs. The video served as his challenge (albeit an odd one) to other young R&B acts, including Chris Brown, Trey Songz, Omarion and Day26.

"To all them boys out there that be grindin', I wanna know who's number one," Spectacular said to the camera, before Pretty Ricky's new single "Tipsy" played in the background. Spectacular then began dancing.

Online commenters mocked the clip and questioned whether the R&B singer were gay. Spectacular addressed the response when he called Chicago radio personality Kendra G.

"Everybody knows I'm not gay," Spectacular said, adding that the video and the briefs were for the ladies. "Them little tight man drawers ... I bought 'em to show off my cuts [in my stomach]. I wanted to show off my body. The underwear was for the ladies."

The Pretty Ricky member said the video is titled "Strip With Spectacular," and it's just the first in a series of clips he plans to put online. He also said the challenge was all in fun.

"Everybody grindin' now," Spectacular said of the suggestive dance style. "Before we came out, no one was bringing you that but the old-school cats. We brought it back out. But everybody is doing it now. It's like a dance competition, though. I don't do that pop-and-lock, I grind."

Nadya Suleman Reality Show: Confirmed!

Congratulations, Spencer Pratt. You're no longer the biggest loser on reality TV.

After weeks of rumors - and fears from a scared nation -  Nadya Suleman has officially landed a reality show.

The disgraceful human being's attorney, Jeff Czech, confirmed to Us Weekly that his client signed a deal this week to exploit her brood of 14 children for the world to see.

"[Nadya and the producers] are hoping to have an arrangement whereby several events in the children's lives would be filmed in a documentary series," Czech said. “One of the events in the children's lives might be their first birthday.”

We can hardly wait!

Pathetic Reality Star

As for that other reality series that focuses on several children and has led to rumors of infidelity, marriage contracts and child labor law violations: Come on, Czech says, why would anyone think Octomom was anything like Jon and Kate Gosselin?!?

“Her television program will not be like the Jon and Kate Plus 8 show,” said Czech. "[Nadya] is looking forward to providing her side of the story."

Are you looking forward to watching it? Will you tune in to the Octomom reality show?

Yes, I love this stuff!
No, it's disgusting!

Mother of Jon Gosselin Blasts "Twisted" Coverage of Son

Oh, that poor, innocent Jon Gosselin.

The man that invited reality TV cameras into his home (and who married that nag of a wife) is a victim of an unfair media. So claims a totally unbiased source: Jon's mother, Pamela.

"I don't think he will ever be portrayed fairly," Mrs. Gosselin said to Star, after the tabloid shamelessly tracked her down at home. "It's always twisted... I don't think it's fair, and it never will be."

Don

Over the past few weeks, of course, Jon has been accused of shagging Deanna Hummel, agreeing to a marriage contract that allows for cheating and possibly violating child labor laws in the state of Pennsylvania.

In fact, here's a look back at the last couple months in the lives of Jon and his annoying wife Kate. Click on each photo to enlarge it:
